NinjaTrader screen recorder: a clip for every NinjaTrader 8 trade

If you trade futures on NinjaTrader 8, TradeCut can record your session and cut each trade into its own clip without a single hotkey. It is Windows only, because NinjaTrader 8 is, and it works through a small add-on that runs inside NinjaTrader.

How the NinjaTrader add-on works

You import the TradeCut add-on into NinjaTrader 8 once, the same way other NinjaTrader add-ons are imported. From then on, when a position opens or closes, the add-on tells the TradeCut desktop app running on the same PC. The app uses that signal to start and end the clip, so the entry and the exit are always inside it.

Your charts, workspaces and order entry stay exactly as they are. The add-on reports what happened; it never sends orders.

Windows only, NinjaTrader 8 only

Automatic detection needs NinjaTrader 8 on Windows with the add-on imported. The TradeCut app also runs on macOS, where it detects TradingView trades instead. On any setup without automatic detection you can still record the session and mark the trade yourself.

  • Windows PC running NinjaTrader 8
  • The TradeCut desktop app for Windows, signed in
  • The add-on imported into NinjaTrader 8

What you get after each futures trade

Each closed trade becomes one clip, captioned from the trade's own data: instrument, direction, time and result. It sits in your library next to every other trade, searchable by ticker, date and P&L, so the scalp from 9:41 is two clicks away instead of somewhere in a three-hour recording.

Reviewing a NinjaTrader session

Futures sessions move fast, and a trade that felt clean in the moment often looks different on replay. Because every trade is already cut, reviewing the session is a matter of watching a handful of short clips, adding a note, and moving on. If a trade is worth sharing, the same clip renders in vertical, square or wide format in the cloud, with a share link that needs no account to open.

A note and a strategy can go on each clip in the web editor, so the reason you took the trade sits right next to the footage of it.

Questions

Does TradeCut work with NinjaTrader on a Mac?

No. NinjaTrader 8 is a Windows application and the TradeCut add-on runs inside it, so NinjaTrader detection is Windows only. On macOS, TradeCut detects TradingView trades.

Does the add-on connect to my broker or place trades?

No. It runs inside your own NinjaTrader 8 and only tells the TradeCut app when a position opens and closes. TradeCut never asks for broker credentials and never places orders.

What about Tradovate, TopstepX or MetaTrader 5?

They are not detected automatically yet; more platforms are on the way. Until then you can record the session in TradeCut and mark each trade yourself, and it still cuts, captions and exports the clip.
